Millie Bretthauer's Obituary
Mildred Maxine Bretthauer, 96 of Centerville passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Millie was born to Homer & Ethel (Torrey) Cowger on February 12, 1923 in Mercer, Missouri. She received her education from Lucerne High School, graduating in 1941. On August 16, 1957, Millie was united in marriage to Theodore E. Bretthauer in Denver, Colorado. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1992. Millie worked in many high level administrative positions during and after WWII. She enjoyed playing the organ, the lost behavior of writing letters to her friends and family, collecting plates and figurines, and of course time spent with her family and friends. Survivors include her three children: Stephen Wayne Rowland, Edward Duane Bretthauer (Beth), Gary Lynn Bretthauer (Mary) and numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Theodore Bretthauer, and siblings: Norris D. Cowger, Don E. Cowger, Anna Lee Cowger and Arah Marie McKinley. Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment will take place privately at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home.
