Mildred Deon Smaniotto's Obituary
Mildred Deon Smaniotto was the fifth and last child born to Nova and Inez (Myers) Fowler on September 22, 1936 in Cincinnati, Iowa. She departed life at Legacy Lodge in Chariton on April 21, 2016 after a furious fight with cancer. Mildred attended school at Cincinnati and later graduated from Centerville High School in 1954. She lived and worked in Des Moines for a few years and later married Raymond Smaniotto. To this union were born two children; Barbara & Gary, and she raised a grandson, Jimmy Steele from infancy. Deon was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Deon was a very good Christian and attended church regularly as long as her health allowed. She enjoyed cooking and baking; she was always trying something new in the kitchen. Survivors include her son, Gary, daughter, Barb and grandchildren, Colton Smaniotto, Cassie Smaniotto, Quentin Smaniotto, Kaylee Smaniotto, Jimmy Steele, great grandchildren, Zayden McMurry, Ava Ford and Harper Steele, who was the light of her life. She is also survived by her sisters; Dixie Stephenson of Seymour, Jennie Smaniotto of Seymour, Elaine Reece of Oregon, brother and sister in law, Dennis and Sharon Fowler from Oregon and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2016 at Thomas-Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour. Interment will immediately follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday at the Seymour funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family and will be designated at a later time and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
