Mildred Moore's Obituary
Mildred Moore, age 88, of Moulton, Iowa, died Thursday, December 2, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born the daughter of the late Rhoda S. and Nira Delta (Guy) Hamilton on April 24, 1916 in Scotland County, Missouri near Memphis, Missouri. She graduated from Memphis Community Schools.On June 21, 1942, Mildred was united in marriage to Lowell Leroy Moore at the Lawn Ridge Christian Church near Memphis, Missouri, which was the first and only wedding in the country church. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Forbes Insurance Agency in Memphis, Missouri. Following her marriage, she worked as a floor supervisor and did office work for McKee Button Company for 15 years. She also did the farmwork while her husband worked for the railroad and during his illness. She helped others who were ill and those who had no relatives to care for them. She enjoyed gardening, animals, and bowling. She and her husband traveled extensively prior to his death. She continued traveling abroad following his death in 1984.Mildred joined the Lawn Ridge Christian Church during her youth. She was a member of the Moulton Christian Church since 1942. She also served as Worthy Matron of the Moulton Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in the 1960's. She was an honorary member of the Moulton-Udell FFA, Library Board, and Rainbow Advisor. She also served on the Farmers Mutual Telephone Board for a period of time. She was the Grand Marshall of the Moulton Jamboree in 2002.Mildred was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Lowell, on August 1, 1984; and a sister, Hazel Irene Barlow.She is survived by: a brother, Howard Hamilton, and his wife, Vera, of Arbela, Missouri; a niece, Debra Goff, and her husband, Scott, of Oregon, Illinois; two nephews, Max Hamilton, of Memphis, Missouri; and Curtis Hamilton and his wife, Karen, of Crystal Lake, Illinois; two great nieces, Katie Hamilton and Abby Goff; and one great nephew, Nickolas Hamilton.Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 6, 2004, at 1:00 P.M. at the Moulton Christian Church in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Burial will follow at the Hilltown Cemetery in Moulton, Iowa.
