Mildred Gladfelder's Obituary
Mildred Gladfelder, 88 of Moravia died Friday, August 26, 2011 at Garden Valley Nursing Home, Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born January 26, 1923 to Pearl and Jeanette Smith, and lived in Appanoose County the majority of her life. She attended rural school near Exline and graduated at Centerville High in 1940. She married Keith Gladfelder with Reverend Childs officiating. She assisted her husband in farming and was a home-maker. She attended church service in Appanoose County, and taught Sunday School many years. She was soil and water conservation assistant commissioner in Monroe County five years while living there. She was a quilter in Lady's Aid Quilter at Fairview Methodist Church.
Surviving are her three daughter's: Norma Tigges of Dexter, Pamela Gladfelder of Albia, and Lona Philpot of Kansas City, Missouri, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Proceeded in death by her husband Keith who died February 20, 1993 her parents, four brothers, Clevie, Volla, Harold, and Elmer; four sisters, Evelyn Anderson, Lorena Hiatt, Lola Walker and Dorothy Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday August 30, 2011 at the Dale Church (north of Centerville) with Pastor Gerald Campbell officiating. Visitation will be held Monday evening at the Lange Funeral Home, Centerville from 6-8PM. Burial will be in the Main Station Cemetery, Moravia. A memorial has been established to the Dale Church and may be left or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at www.langefh.com
