Mikki Jones' Obituary
Michelle (Mikki) Jones passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, her favorite place to be, on Wednesday, October 27, 2021.
Mikki was born on January 14, 1980 to Mike and Sandy (Brown) Jones in Corydon, Iowa. She was joined, 30 minutes later, by her twin sister Nicole (known at the time as Nikki), and later brothers Chase and Chance.
What she lacked in vocabulary and movement, she made up for with her smile, which could light up a room. She never met a stranger and would happily chat away with anyone, especially if they brought up her favorite topic, HoHo! For Mikki there were two times of year: Christmas Day, and then the 364 days leading back up to Christmas Day. In fact, anytime she was refusing her meds or getting a bit out of sorts, you could often hear her family tell her "HoHo's watching", be that in December or July!
Mikki was a lover of many things... as long as she was always home at night to sleep in her own bed. Growing up she enjoyed music class at Davis County Schools, which she attended until graduating in 2001, as well as being a regular camper at Easterseals Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines. She loved books and her dolls and of course, Arthur and Baby Kate. One of her favorite things to do was spend the night at her Grandma and Grandpa Brown's house in Seymour. While visiting, Mikki would often tell Grandpa to "go walk" so that she could have Grandma to herself. She also loved visiting because, without fail, they would take her up to Betty's for some "num". As her siblings grew older, Mikki, loved to see her brothers play ball and was always up for watching the Cardinals on TV with her dad. She was a Cyclone fan through and through and was a regular tailgater with her family at ISU games. As her siblings moved from home, Mikki cherished having Mom and Dad all to herself because SHE could rule the roost! She was always very enthusiastic to travel with her parents, especially to visit her siblings - she could hardly wait to get there! But without fail within the first 10 minutes of arrival she was ready to leave, dropping what her family would refer to as "the H Bomb"... HOME! In recent years she attended adult day care at the Bloomfield Care Center, where she enjoyed visiting and playing BINGO with all of her friends. When COVID hit she began spending her days with her Grandma Jones in Plano, which was time that they both enjoyed.
Mikki was a daughter, sister, and friend to all. However, of all the roles she held, her most beloved was that of being "Aunt Bik" to her real life baby dolls: Claire, Lochlan, Natalie, and Elodie.
Left to treasure Bik's memory are her parents, Mike and Sandy, siblings Nicole "Baby", Chase "Add", and Chance "Buddy", her brother and sisters-in-law: Jason, Megan, and Emma, her baby dolls Claire & Natalie, Lochlan & Elodie, her Grandma Karen, and her four-legged sisters Daphne, Mazzy, and Nite Nite. There are also a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and boyfriends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her Grandparents Tommy & Dorothy Brown and Donnie Jones.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, November 1, 2021 at Bessie's Barn, west of Centerville. Interment will immediately follow at Crossroads Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville from 12-5 pm, with family present from 3-5 pm. Memorials may be given to the family and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
