Mike R. Swarts' Obituary
Mike R. Swarts, age 62, of Centerville, Iowa, and a former Moulton, Iowa resident, died Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Frederick 'Raymond' and Geneva I. (Archer) Swarts on May 12, 1951 in Centerville, Iowa. He graduated from the Moulton-Udell High School in 1969.Mike was united in marriage to Glenda Kirby and they were later divorced. He worked for over 20 years on the Railroad; first for the Burlington-Northern, then he became a Track Inspector for the Wabash and later a Foreman for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad. After leaving the Railroad, Mike worked in Construction for both Barber Construction and Pfannebecker Construction both in Centerville. He loved spending time with his family, whether it be hunting, fishing or trapping. At one time, he owned Beer 30, a local hangout spot in Moulton.In death, Mike joins: his parents; his daughter, Holly Kaylene Swarts on June 6, 2001; his brothers, Alan Swarts and Danny Swarts.He is survived by: his children, Michael Swarts and his wife, Amanda of Bloomfield, Iowa, Heather Smothers of Centerville, Iowa and Seth Swarts-Nail of Moulton, Iowa; and a brother, Rick Swarts and his wife, Tami of Moulton, Iowa; along with one granddaughter, Kennedy Smothers of Centerville.Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery west of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9 am until the time of services at the funeral home with the family present. Memorials can be made to the family and left or mailed to the funeral home.
