Michele Jean Valentine's Obituary
Michele Jean Valentine, age 84, of Centerville, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Centerville Specialty Care.
Jean was born on December 28, 1937 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Bruce Porter Sr. and Lucreta (Booth) Porter. She graduated from Mystic High School, with the Class of 1956. On December 30, 1956, Jean was united in marriage to Kenneth Valentine at the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville. To this union, two children were born, Lee and Mike.
In her younger years, Jean loved ceramics. Throughout her life, she enjoyed cooking and going out to eat with Kenny and her family. Moreover, she cherished her children and grandchildren.
Jean worked for Porter and Magnall Constructions for 15-20 years, before she took a bookkeeper position at Christian Opportunity Center in Pella. She was there for 18 years before she retired.
Left to cherish Jeans memory are her husband of 65 years, Kenny Valentine of Centerville; her children, Lee (Brenda) Valentine of Peculiar, Missouri and Mike (Linda) Valentine of Centerville; four grandchildren, Staci (Ryan) Climie of Centerville, Shannon (Daniel) Robinson of Centerville, Johnathan (Brandy) Valentine of Belton, Missouri, and Christopher (Christina) Valentine of Blue Springs, Missouri; five great-grandchildren, Carson, Callan, Colton, Cade and Mesa; a brother, Butch (Bev) Porter of Centerville; a brother in law, Ronald (Mitzi) Valentine of Plano, Iowa; her beloved dog, Bo; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with Pastor Brian Hargrave Officiating. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery in Mystic. Visitation will take place Thursday, January 13, 2022, with the family greeting friends from 10-11AM.
