Michael R. Davis, 68 of Mystic passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at The Continental Care Center in Seymour. Mike was born in Rockford, Illinois on October 21, 1943 to John & Ruth (Hull) Davis. Michael moved to California in 1948 with his parents. There he met and married Katherine 'Kitty' Kessler. Together they moved to Mystic in 1972, the area where Mike had spent childhood summers with his grandparents. Mike and Kitty divorced, he later married Marla Johnson. Mike was employed by Centerville School District as a bus driver from December 1974 to April 1977. He then went to work for Mystic Water Dept. and Centerville Water Dept. In 1979 Mike went back to work for Centerville Schools as the head mechanic until he retired in June of 2000. Mike enjoyed restoring old cars and watching NASCAR. He especially enjoyed following Dale Earnhardt Sr. Mike is survived by his wife Marla of Mystic, daughter, Joanna L. Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada, step-son, Jake Johnson(Audrey) of Mystic, brother, John 'Jack' Davis(Marcia) of Centerville, sister, Pam Jamieson(Doug) of Aurora, Colorado, grandsons, Michael T. Archer of Red Oak, Iowa, Matthew R. Archer of Las Vegas, Nevada, three step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews in Aurora and Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Ruth Davis, grandparents, Carl & Margaret Davis and Wallace & Maude Hull. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, September 21, 2012 at Thomas Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.
