Michael McVey's Obituary
Michael Joseph McVey, 28, of Corydon passed away on September 1, 2018 in Carroll, Iowa. Michael was born on May 20, 1990. He was adopted by Nick and Thelma (Nichols) McVey on April 16, 1993. Michael accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior with his mom on July 25, 1998. Michael received his education from Wayne Community Schools, graduating in 2008. Recently, Michael attended his 10 year class reunion with his classmates. Michael never enjoyed school, but met some lifelong friends there. He engaged in Special Olympics and was awarded many medals for bowling, walking and cycling. Michael enjoyed watching movies (any kind but mostly scary, action and comedy), playing video games, hanging out with his friends, talking on the phone to whomever, spending time with family, fishing with his dad and trying new places to eat. If you knew Michael, you knew he loved his Mt. Dew and pasta. Michael was a man of very few words, but when you got him to laugh it was hard to get him to stop. His smile was contagious and his laugh was even more contagious. Michael had such a tender heart and wanted to be everyone's friend. He was caring, ornery and had a fun loving personality. He taught his family more than he will ever know and we were so proud of him! When you met Michael, you never forgot Michael. Survivors include his father, Nick McVey of Corydon, IA; sister, Emily McVey of Overland Park, KS; aunts: Julie Woodley of Centerville, IA, Linda (Dennis) Brown of Modena, MO and Sherry Wells of Pleasant Hope MO; uncle, Randy (Oletha) Nichols of Clio IA; cousin, Adam Peck; Grandpa, Lloyd Rose and numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma; grandparents: Clyde & MaDonna McVey and LaVora Rose. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow at Corydon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family which will be designated at a later date.
