Michael Ray Hixson's Obituary
Michael Ray Hixson formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away at The Comfort House in Pella, Iowa at the age of 72.
Michael Ray Hixson was born August 6, 1949 to Elmer and Gleda Hixson in Packwood, Iowa. Siblings were; Tom, Robert, William Jr., Rosemary and Susan. The family moved to Batavia, Iowa in 1955 when his parents purchased a business there. He attended Cardinal Community Schools and graduated in 1967.
After high school, Mike attended American Institute of Business in Des Moines. He was then drafted by the US Army and sent to Fort Polk, Louisiana. Upon completing his military duties, he began working at Dahl's Foods in Des Moines, Iowa. Through the many years of dedication to the company, he was promoted up to store manager of several stores, then went on to being a seated board member of the company. He worked there until his retirement in 2013.
He is survived by his brother Tom and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Gleda Hixson. Brothers; Robert and William Jr. Sisters; Rosemary Terrell and Susan Vannoy.
A graveside service (at Mikes request) will be held in Batavia, Iowa at the date to be announced. A memorial has been established to Hospice of Pella. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Pella.
