Michael Jay Asbury's Obituary
Michael Jay Asbury, age 70 of Moulton, Iowa passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
He was born on April 7, 1952, the son of Joe and Jean Asbury. Michael enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. He served his country faithfully in Vietnam.
Following his honorable discharge from the service, Michael worked in Missoula, Montana as a firefighter for the Forestry Service. He also worked in logging while residing in Montana.
Michael eventually returned to higher education, obtaining an associate degree as an electrician. At this point in time he relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah working as an electrician. On February 24, 1994 Michael was united in marriage to Denise Diane Shepard in Utah.
Michael and Denise moved to Iowa where he continued to work as an electrician until his retirement.
He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his lifetime, including hunting and fishing.
Left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 30 years, Denise Asbury of Moulton, Iowa; 5 children, Michael Asbury Jr. of Oregon, Matthew Asbury of Idaho, Chuck Asbury of New York, Crystal Farrand of Idaho, and Nick Shepard of Fremont, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; a brother, Bud; and 2 sisters, Cindy and Cheryl.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
According to Michaels wishes, cremation has been accorded. A service celebrating his life will be held at a later date in Missoula, Montana. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Denise Asbury, to be used for his services in Montana, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, ATTN: Asbury Family, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, IA 52544.
