Melissa Ann Salcedo-Munoz's Obituary
Melissa Ann Salcedo-Munoz, age 35, of Moulton, Iowa, died Friday, May 4, 2007 near Biggsville, Illinois in an automobile accident. She was born the daughter of Larry and Martha (Myers) Whisler on May 5, 1971 in Valpariso, Indiana. She graduated from the Chesterton Community School in 1989 and from Ivy Tech in Gary, Indiana and later attended Indian Hills in Ottuwma, Iowa. Melissa was united in marriage to Jamie R. Houghtlen in 1989, they were later divorced and in September of 1999, was united in marriage to Octavio Salcedo-Munoz in Chesterton, Indiana. The coupled moved to Moulton, Iowa in 2002 and Melissa began working as a Lab Tech for Ottuwma Regional Health Center in Ottuwma, Iowa. Melissa was an avid Moulton-Udell Booster, doing everything she could for all of the kids and their activities in Moulton.She was preceded in death by: her sister, Marta Cooper on November 5, 2006; and a brother, Martin Lynn Whisler.Melissa is survived by: her husband, Octavio Salcedo-Munoz of Moulton, Iowa; her children, Devin Houghtlen, Lindsey Houghtlen, Drew Houghtlen and Andrianna Salcedo-Munoz all of Moulton, Iowa; step-daughter, Janet Salcedo-Munoz of Guadalajara, Mexico; her a parents, Larry and Martha Whisler of Coatsville, Missouri; She was the daughter of Larry Whisler and Martha (Myers) Whisler; brothers, David Whisler of Chesterton, Indiana and Daniel Whisler of Ottumwa, Iowa; sister, Melanie Dickson of Chesterton, Indiana.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 2 pm at the Christian Church in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to and Educational Fund for her Children and can be left at the funeral home.
