May Belle Brain age 93, of Moravia, Iowa died Thursday March 25, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Cliff and Clemie (Carr) Ogden on October 26, 1916 near Unionville, Iowa. May Belle graduated from Unionville High School in Unionville, Iowa. On September 18, 1935 in Lancaster, Missouri she was united in marriage to Willard Brain. They went to the horse races in Bloomfield, Iowa for their honeymoon. They were lifelong Democrats. The first job she could remember was helping Berniece Carr (who had typhoid fever) where she cleaned, cooked and waited on her for $1.00 per week. Her advice was ENJOY EACH DAY. There is one HAPPINESS in life, 'to love and be loved.' GOD IS LOVE - John 4:08. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia, Iowa.May Belle is preceded in death by: parents; husband, Willard Brain on January 3, 1990; son, George James Brain in infancy; daughters, Margaret Ann and Carol Lee Brain in infancy; brothers, Richard, Glenn and Kenneth Ogden.She is survived by: daughters, Jane and her husband, Dean Kaster of Moravia, Iowa, and Joyce and her husband, Charles Taylor of West Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren and great grandchildren; Kandi, Mike, Ashley and Trevor Baxter of Mondamin, Iowa, Sheri and J.D. McDanel of Moravia, Iowa, Matt and Matthew Mikel Kaster of Moravia, Iowa, John and Jan Santa Fede and Alex Leifheit of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Todd, Christi, Zachary and Jordan Taylor of Polk City, Iowa, Tim, Tami, Taso Papadopoulos and Sydney Franklin of Waukee, Iowa; extended family, Paulette, Danielle and Cohen Taylor of Des Moines, Iowa; sister Kay Anderson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Eaton Cemetery west of Unionville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2010 from 1:00 PM till 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa.Memorials have been established to Grace United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 407 or Taylor Hospice House and can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
