Maxine Metzger's Obituary
Virginia Maxine "Weenie" Metzger, 88, of Corydon passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon. Maxine was born to John & Fiana (Creech) Beemblossom on April 14, 1929 in Washington, Iowa. She received her education from Washington Schools, graduating in 1947. Maxine was united in marriage to Ivan R. West in June, 1947. To this union came six children: Michael, Vickie, Susan, Earnest, Daniel and James. Maxine and Ivan would later divorce. On April 5, 1980, Maxine would marry again to Verlon E. Metzger. Maxine worked as a cook for the schools for many years. Survivors include her husband Verlon Metzger, five children: Vickie Shafer, Susan Davis (Daryl), Earnest West (Susan) Daniel West (Danette), James West (Connie), daughter-in-law Twila, 19 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren, four step-children: Gary Metzger (Terry), Donna Motts (Billy), Rick Metzger (Jill), Diana Gerving, 10 step-grandchildren, 11 step- great grandchildren and numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael West, granddaughter, April Davis, daughter-in-law Janice West, step-son, Randy Metzger, six siblings: Vernon Beemblossom, Catherine Hartman, Donald Beemblossom, Max Beemblossom, Earnest Beemblossom and John Beemblossom Jr. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow in Corydon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday, December 18, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon.
