Maxine Ewing's Obituary
Maxine Ewing, 85, of Centerville passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. Maxine was born in Main Station, Iowa to Walter & Margery (Johnson) Scott on December 31, 1927. She received her education from Moravia High School and took some higher education classes. Maxine married Matthew T. Ewing II on July 4, 1953 in Appanoose County. Maxine worked as a cook at the Saddle Rock in her younger years and also at the Soda Fountain in Owl Pharmacy. She would later run Centerville Cleaners until her retirement. Maxine was a member of Centerville Evangelical Covenant Women and taught Sunday school at the church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and friends. Maxine is survived by three children: Matthew T. Ewing III of Albia, Margery Davison (Tony Shriver) of Centerville, Marilyn (Kelly) Middleton of Centerville, three grandchildren: Sarah Ewing, Becky Ewing, Bob (Ronna) McGrann, four siblings: Charlotte (Ron) Tissue of Moravia, Jack Scott of Moravia, Walter 'Buck' (Margaret) Scott of Moravia, Sondra (Dave) Scott of Albia; a sister-in-law Annie Scott of Moravia and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Matthew T. Ewing II on March 7, 2002, son, Max Ewing on Ocotber 29, 2012, sister, Lois Caster, brother, Billy Joe Scott, an infant brother, Bobby Lee Scott, brother-in-law, Luther Caster and sister-in-law, Rosetta Scott. Graveside service will be 4 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Main Station Cemetery with Rev. Al Cooper officiating. Memorials may be given to the family. Condolences may be left at www.thomasfh.com.
