Max Dwight Moore's Obituary
Max Dwight Moore, 91 of Russell passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
Max was born to Emmett & Hattie (Schooley) Moore on October 3, 1932, in Allerton, Iowa. He received his education from Cambria High School, graduating in 1951. On November 14th, 1953; Max was united in marriage to Patricia Hellyer, she preceded him in death in 2005.
Max served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, from 1953-1955. He returned home where he would choose farming as a lifetime occupation. Max was a Boy Scout leader, 4-H leader and member of extension council, Sunday school teacher, member of Legion Post 68, and lifelong member of Millerton Methodist Church. He loved God, family, and country dearly. He enjoyed sharing his joy of water skiing, swimming, flying, animals, and science with his family as well. You could often find him following grandkids to sporting events, tinkering with electronics, or learning the latest technology.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Ingram (Scott), daughter-in-law, Carol McClaflin, son-in-law, Richard Mason, grandchildren: Amber Parker (Michael), Adam Moore (Stephanie), Amanda Wood (Bill), Andrew Mason (Kerry), Blake McClaflin (Mallory), Shelby Butorac (Thomas), Naja Jones, Lane Ingram, Hallie Ingram; great grandchildren: Robert Wood, Jessica (Jacob) Woolsey, Jenna Moore, Travis Moore, Haley Wood, Kady Wood, Nate Mason, Max Mason, Piper Mason, Eleanor McClaflin and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia, his children Donald Moore and Rhonda Mason, and siblings: Frances Johnston, Lynn Moore, Clair Moore, and Rex Moore.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Corydon United Methodist Church. Interment will immediately follow in Corydon Cemetery. Visitation will be all day Friday, February 2, 2024, at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with family present from 5-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the Max Moore memorial fund of Corydon United Methodist Parish youth activities and Code Wayne Robotics Club.
