Max Irelan's Obituary
Carroll Max Irelan, 61 of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at MercyOne in Centerville. Max was born to Gerald and Martha (Hetzler) Irelan on February 20, 1959 in Centerville. Max graduated from Centerville High School in 1977 and went on to attend Indian Hills to get his AA in Computer Programming, graduating in 1987. While in school, Max loved playing in the band and was known for being ornery. He worked as a salesman for many years of his life, a career he loved dearly. Max was married to Stacey Stelzer in 1985, and to this union two children were born: Nick and Elizabeth Irelan. Max and Stacey were later divorced. He was married to Melissa Ellis in 2003, and to this union a son, Sammy, was born. Max's children were the loves of his life, and he always looked forward to attending their activities. Max was a baptized member of the First Baptist Church in Jasper, Indiana. He will be remembered for his sharp wit and sense of humor. Max was always looking for ways to make excitement happen. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and going to concerts. You could oftentimes find Max listening to his favorite talk radio, and he spent a lot of his time outdoors, fishing and hunting. Max is survived by his mother Martha Irelan, sister Nancy Stickler (Rodney), children Nick and Elizabeth Irelan and Sammy Irelan, nieces Kaitlin Woodward (Jeff) and Taylor Phillips, great nephew Milo Phillips and numerous extended family. He is preceded in death by his father Gerald Irelan. A funeral service for Max will take place at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with interment at Sunset View Cemetery in Moulton directly following the service. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, November 12, 2020 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Memorials can be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
