Max Archer's Obituary
Max Archer, age 73, of Centerville, Iowa, died Monday, April 18, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born the son of Walter L. and Geneva (Burton) Archer on July 21, 1942 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He attended the Moulton Schools in Moulton, Iowa.He served his country for a time in the Iowa National Guard. On July 22, 1968, He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Ervin and later they were divorced. Then on July 27, 1977, Max was united in marriage to Janet Kelsey in Troy, Iowa and they too, were later divorced. He was a truck driver most of his life and also enjoyed doing transportation of local Amish families. He was a member of the Eagle's Club in Centerville where he also was a Bartender. He loved finding the next big fishing hole, and enjoyed fishing with his family and friends.He was preceded in death by: his parents; his son, Jeffrey Allen Archer; brothers, Bobby and William 'Bill' Archer; and a nephew, Peachy Fowler.Max is survived by: his son, James Archer of Panama City, Florida; daughters, Ami and her husband, Bryan Hamilton of Centerville, Iowa and Tara Archer of Lake Butler, Florida; brothers, Kenneth (Jan) Archer and John (Judy) Archer of Ottumwa, Iowa and David (Hope) Archer of Moulton, Iowa; and a sister, Phyllis (Herman)Fowler of Moulton, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Susan Archer of Albia, Iowa; along with eight grandchildren; several special nieces and nephews and a host of friends.Graveside services will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 12 pm until the time of services at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present.
