Mattie M. Walker's Obituary
Mattie M. Walker, age 91, of Colona, Illinois and a former Cincinnati, Iowa resident, died Saturday, August 21, 2004, at Rose Wood Care Center in Moline, Illinois. She was born the daughter of Henry and Daisy May (Erwin) Bessie on March 30, 1913 in Cincinnati, Iowa. She received her education in the Cincinnati Community Schools.On August 25, 1928, Mattie was united in marriage to Glen Walker in Centerville, Iowa. She worked for a time at the Button Factory, Raymond's Dairy Creame and was a Home Health Aid all in Centerville. After the death of her husband, Mattie would stay with her daughter in Colona, Illinois for the winter months until 2000 when she became a resident.Mattie was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Glen Walker; brother, Ira and Raymond Besse; sister, Ivy Cassady; great grandson, Jamie Waggoner and great great grandson, Tyler Farnsworth.She is survived by: her daughter, Sandra Farnsworth and her husband, Bob of Colona, Illinois; brother, Glen Besse of Cincinnati, Iowa; sister, Maxine Robbins of Rock Island, Illinois; 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Pastors Kay Singley and Gene Myers officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Cincinnati, Iowa.
