Matthew Ray Hiatt's Obituary
Matthew Ray Hiatt, age 38 of Centerville, Iowa went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 28, 2012.
He was born on February 21, 1974, the son of Inez Rae (Blecher) Hiatt and William Cyrus Weatherly in Centerville. While growing up he attended Tuesday school in Numa. Matt was baptized with his sister Michelle at church camp in Bloomfield, Iowa. He attended Centerville High School and participated in wrestling, football, and homecoming court.
He met Kara Sheston in 1989 and from this union Madison Rae Sheston was born on June 5, 1995. Matt met his best friend Kathy Brown in 1999. After a lively courtship, they were united in marriage on November 22, 2003 at the Little Flock Chapel west of Centerville, Iowa.
Matt worked as a roofer for his uncle David McVeigh with D&T Roofing. He also worked with Tarry Brace, Jeff Burns, and most recently, Pershy Roofing.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bike riding, camping, bonfires, bridge jumping, ""Do Dah Days,"" and socializing with many family and friends. Matt loved being outdoors. He also enjoyed movies, especially his favorite- ""The Outlaw Josey Wales.""
His son Matthew Jon Hiatt was born on April 13, 2005. He was the light of Matt's life. Family and friends would often see Matt pulling his son in his wagon all over town.
Together Matt and Kathy raised four children, Matthew, Cassie, Cory and Cody. Many memories were made with the children.
Matt is survived by his wife Kathy Hiatt; children, Madison Sheston-Hiatt, Matthew Jon Hiatt, Cassandra Jo Clark, Cory Levi Clark, and Cody William Clark; his mother Inez Rae (Jim) Hiatt; sister Michelle (Chad) McDaniel; a brother Zachary Jon (Sandy) Hiatt; his aunt Betty Lou McVeigh; father-in-law Rollie E. Brown; brother-in-law Jason (heather) Brown; nieces and nephews Owen Fred, Ian John, Violet Marie, Kaylee and Remmi Brown; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father William Cyrus Weatherly; Grandmother Marie Blecher; his uncle David McVeigh; cousins Jade Ivan Prokes and Sarah Brown; as well as many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday, May 4, 2012 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Numa Cemetery. A visitation will held be on Thursday at Lange Funeral Home from 12-8 PM, with the family present from 5-8 PM. Memorials have been established to the Matthew Hiatt Memorial Fund and may be given to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
