Matthew Ewing, III's Obituary
Matthew Thomas Ewing III, age 70 of Centerville, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024 at Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia.
Matthew was born on February 5, 1954 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Matthew Thomas Ewing II and Maxine (Scott) Ewing. He graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1972. While in high school, he was always found around his best friend Jon, playing basketball, track, baseball and football. Matthew furthered his education at Indian Hills Community College and Iowa State University studying drafting.
Matthew worked at Iowa Steel and Wire, McGraw-Edison, and Alliant Energy for a period of time. He spent 25 years at Young Radiator before retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed being a history buff, fishing, hunting and reading. Matthew was also a Green Bay Packers Fan.
Left to honor Matthew's memory are his children, Becky Ewing, Sarah (Jared) Waremburg, and Bobby Joe (Ronna) McGrann; his grandchildren, Dalton Waremburg, Madden and Mia McGrann; his sisters, Margery (Tony) Shriver and Marilyn (Kelly) Middleton; his best friend, Jon Willier; as well as several extended family and friends.
Matthew was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Max Ewing.
Graveside services will be held at 2PM, Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Main Station Cemetery by Rathbun, Iowa.
