Mary Jane Withrow's Obituary
Mary Jane (Spurgeon) Withrow, age 90, of Moulton, died on August 20th, 2017 at the Bloomfield Care Center, Bloomfield, Iowa. She was born to Beecher and Bertha (Smith) Spurgeon on April 26th, 1927 on the farm in West Grove, Iowa. She was a 1945 graduate of Moulton High School and after graduation, she taught at a one-room school for one year. She worked at McClellans until her marriage to Clarence "Junior" Withrow on April 6th, 1947 in Centerville. To this union, 3 daughters and 2 sons were born. She was a homemaker and worked alongside Junior on the farm. Mary Jane was an active member of the Moulton Christian Church, cooking food for dinners and attending bible studies. She enjoyed playing her autoharp along with Junior on the fiddle and with a group of friends, playing for nursing homes, various community events and church. Her home was filled with music and she loved having people come to play and sing together. She grew up in a very musical family with Mary Jane and her brother and sisters singing, accompanied by their mother on the piano, singing at church and singspirations. Mary Jane carried that love of music into her own family, encouraging in their love of music and singing for the Lord. She is survived by three daughters: Deanna Brinegar of Moulton, Karla (John) Deahl of Unionville, Shari (Dan) Hurt of Centerville, 2 sons: Randy (Beth) Withrow of Moulton and Andrew (Vicki) Withrow, of Moulton.She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren, and 1 step great-great grandchild, a sister Marvelee Davison of Indianola and sister, Shirley Fowler of Winfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Junior, one brother Bob, son-in-law Tommie Brinegar, and great-grandson Zachary Brinegar. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, August 24th at the Thomas Funeral Home in Moulton from 6-8 PM with the family present. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 25th at 10:30 AM at the Moulton Christian Church. Burial will be at Sunset View Cemetary.
