Mary Magdalene Thomas' Obituary
Mary Magdalene Thomas, age 100, of Centerville, Iowa, died Friday, May 30, 2008 at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Micheal and Jvanna (Polich) Grenko on August 5, 1907 in Numa, Iowa. She received her education in the Exline Community Schools in Exline, Iowa.On February 23, 1929, Mary was united in marriage to Samuel Thomas in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She was a secretary for the Croation Fraternal Union Insurance Lodge for many years. She also worked many years until her retirement at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Centerville. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Samuel Thomas in February 1960; her oldest son, Charles Thomas; great grandson, Justin Flowers; and brothers, Matt Grenko and Joe Grenko.Mary is survived by: her sons, Gary and his wife, Phyllis Thomas of Centerville, Iowa and Michael and his wife, Cheri Thomas of Aurora, Colorado; daughters, Genieve and her husband, Junior Flowers of East Moline, Illinois and Beverly and her husband, Frank Rehmeier of Omaha, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa with Fr. Mike Volkmer officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville.
