Mary Long's Obituary
Mary Long, 94 of Unionville, Missouri and formerly of Centerville passed away, Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Putnam County Care Center. Mary was born to William & Clara (O'Connor) McGee on September 17, 1926 at her home in Appanoose County, Iowa. She received her education from Centerville High School, graduating in 1944. On June 26, 1950; Mary was united in marriage to Billy Long. To this union came six children: Suzanne, Sheryl, Christine, Dennis, Jerry and Julie. Mary worked for a time at Union Carbide but being a homemaker and taking care of her family was her lifelong job. Mary enjoyed gardening, cooking and being outdoors. She also enjoyed shopping. Mary loved spending time with her family, especially time spent spoiling her grandchildren. Survivors include her children: Suzanne O'Donnell (Jerry), Christine O'Donnell, Dennis Long (Sharon), Jerry Long (Reta), Julie Oden (Brent), 25 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, sister, Clara Lou Flattery, sister-in-law, Patty McGee and numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Billy Long, daughter, Sheryl Ryan, sister, Teresa Conley and brothers: Bill, Bernard, James Ed, Pete, Leo and John. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Fr. Timothy Armbruster officiating. Visitation with family present will be from 9-10 am, Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home. Visitation with family present will be Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home from 5-7:00 pm. Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
