Mary Irene Grey's Obituary
Mary Irene Grey, age 96, of Centerville, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Harley and Lena (Horn) Martin on March 9, 1912 near Monterey, Iowa in Davis County. She graduated from Moulton Community Schools in 1932.On August 16, 1939, Irene was united in marriage to Jesse T. Grey in Kirksville, Missouri. She lived most of her life in the Monterey area and was a homemaker and also worked at the Snack Bar at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa for over 7 years. When Irene and her husband, Jesse retired, they moved to Centerville, Iowa on October of 1980 to their new home on south 18th Street. She was an active member of the Nazerene Church as long as her health permitted.She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Jesse T. Grey on August 31, 1981 and a sister, Ona Bassett in 1982.Irene is survived by her: daughter, Janice and her husband, Floyd Fowler of Centerville, Iowa; grandson, Michael Fowler and his wife, Shana of Oskaloosa; great grandchildren, Gage, Hayden and Marley; and many nieces, nephews and friends.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 1 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Walter King officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2008 from 2 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to the Church of the Nazerene and may be left at the funeral home.
