Mary E. Doud's Obituary
Mary Doud, age 78 of Centerville, Iowa, died January 19, 2009 at the Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Mary was born January 2, 1931, the daughter of Dick and Olive (True) Welch in Centerville, Iowa. She married Glen William Doud, July 23, 1950 in Centerville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1995. Mary lived in East Moline for thirty years. During this time, she was employed with the East Moline School District, as well as the Lexington House Nursing Home.
Glen and Mary later moved to Centerville where she worked at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center for over six years. Mary enjoyed watching sports on the television, especially baseball. She also enjoyed watching her favorite classic shows. Mary loved cooking for her family. One of her favorite desserts that she prepared for her family was her pineapple upside down cake. Mary loved taking care of her family. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Centerville, Iowa.
Mary is survived by a son, William ""Bill"" (Sandy) Doud of East Moline, Illinois; sisters, June (Ed) Cochran of Centerville, Iowa, and LaRue (Dave) Roes of East Moline, Illinois; brothers, James (Michelle) Welch of East Moline, Illinois, and Richard Welch of Silvis, Illinois; and grandchildren, Kyle and Ryan Doud both of East Moline, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dean Welch and Gene Billington; a sister, Dixie Stewart; and a son, Richard Doud.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Suchman officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. A visitation will be held Tuesday with family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the Church of Christ and may be left at or mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
