Mary Lou Davis' Obituary
Mary Lou Davis, 80, of Altoona, Iowa, formerly of Unionville, Missouri passed away on Friday December 27, 2013 surrounded by family at Altoona Nursing and Rehab Center in Altoona, Iowa. Mary Lou, the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Overton) Fields, was born in Lucerne, Missouri on December 20, 1933. She attended Lucerne, Missouri schools and later moved to Powersville, Missouri. She was united in marriage with Glen W Davis in 1959. She came to know the Lord and was baptized in faith at the First Pentecostal Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She worked as a certified nurses aide for many years, working in nursing homes and in private homes. Mary Lou enjoyed playing cards and putting on and going to garage sales.Her family and friends will lovingly remember Mary Lou's memories and life. Her four children; sons Sonny Oxford of Des Moines, Iowa, Ronald Davis and Debbie of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; her daughters Letha Ritchie and her husband Jack of Fullerton, California and Glenda Turner of Anaheim, California; her seven grandchildren, Sonny, Ken, Jacqueline, Greg, Lindsay, Chaz and Chasity, and her great-grandchild Owen.She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertha, her husband Glen Davis, three brothers: Walter, Buster, and Howard, and five sisters: Betty, Daisy, Bessie, Dorie and Darlene.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday January 4, 2014 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Lloyd Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 11am until the time of service with the family present on Saturday.
