Mary Davis' Obituary
Mary Davis, age 96, of Centerville, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of James S. and Lettie (Lawson) Cline on April 2, 1911 in Exline, Iowa. She graduated from the Exline Community Schools 1930. After moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she began working for the Quaker Oats Company and later moved to Illinois where she meet and married Joseph Davis. Mary was a member of the Lodge #23 of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and was a former High Priestess as well as being a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Mary moved back to Centerville and lived at Shamrock Apartments where she made several new friends. She enjoyed playing cards, chicken foot and dominos. Mary was a person who loved people and liked to fellowship.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Joseph Davis in 1983; daughters, Linda Davis in 1965 and Arliss Brown; five brothers and two sisters.Mary is survived by: five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and sixteen great, great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2007 at 10:30 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with burial to follow at the Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, Illinois later that afternoon. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2007 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to the family and can be left at the funeral home.
