Mary E Curtis' Obituary
Mary E. Curtis, age 90 of Centerville, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Centerville Specialty Care in Centerville.
Mary was born on March 4, 1926 in Appanoose County, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Edith (Ellis) Henderson. She attended Centerville schools. On July 29, 1942, Mary was united in marriage to Donald Robert "Bob" Curtis in Unionville, Missouri. From this union, six children were born, Joan, Dennis, Lynda, Micheal, Donald and Larry.
In her earlier years, she was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Centerville, Iowa. Mary and Bob owned and operated a mobile home park for twenty two years in Centerville, known as "Curtis Mobile Home", as well as "Curtis Antiques" for many years. They had numerous locations throughout Centerville. They also owned the Eastgate Auction Barn for ten years.
Mary is survived by her children, Joan Curtis Chapman, Dennis Curtis, Lynda (Gene) Zemo and Micheal Curtis; fifteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Robert "Bob" Curtis; parents, Lloyd and Edith Henderson; sons, Larry Curtis and Donald Curtis; Step Mother, Alice Henderson; daughter-in-law, Beverly Curtis; three grandchildren; four sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 1:30PM, at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Ken Mehrhoff officiating. A visitation will take place, Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville from 12:30PM-1:30PM. A burial will follow the funeral services at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Memorials have been established to the Appanoose County Historical Society and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville.
