Mary Rosalie Bivin's Obituary
Mary Rosalie Bivin, age 94 of Allerton, Iowa passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Continental Care Center in Seymour, Iowa.
She was born December 26, 1919 in Iconium, Iowa to Berle and Catholine (Ball) Beaty. Rosalie graduated from Moravia High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to William C. Bivin on June 24, 1939. Rosalie spent most of her adult life as a homemaker, raising three children and caring for her husband. Due to her husband's job in sales, the family moved to numerous states throughout Rosalie's life. No matter the family's location, she was always active in church life. It was extremely important to Rosalie that her family attended church on Sunday. She was an active participant in the Women's Missionary Society throughout her lifetime.
Upon her husband's retirement, the couple engaged in extensive traveling. Their adventures not only included trips throughout the United States but also global travel as well. In fact, Rosalie and her husband had traveled to every continent in the world except for Africa and Antarctica.
Rosalie had other hobbies that kept her busy in her free time, including reading, sewing and knitting.
She is survived by her two children, Kay Boam of Allerton, Iowa and Linda (Larry) Murphy of Allerton, Iowa; four grandchildren, Carla Bivin of California, Joshua Boam of California, Cammie Stephens of Arizona and Keith Murphy of Allerton, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Matthew Murphy; three sisters, Margaret Hull of Ottumwa, Iowa, Marilyn Snider of Seymour, Iowa and Adda Rose Maxfield of Des Moines, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Bill Bivin; a grandson, Timothy Boam; and four siblings, Max Beaty, Dean Beaty, Bonnie Adams and Rex Beaty; as well as other extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Christian Church in Allerton, Iowa with Pastor Kyle Ryun officiating. A fellowship gathering will take place following the service at the Inn of the Six-Toad Cat in Allerton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Allerton First Responders and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
