Marvin Walker's Obituary
Marvin Walker, age 86 of Centerville, Iowa, died Monday, November 19, 2007 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Lester and Ida (Elias) Walker on April 5, 1921 near Wessington Springs, South Dakota. He received his education in a rural Appanoose county school.Marvin served his country during WWII with the United States Army from September 22, 1942 until his honorable discharge on October 20, 1945. On June 5, 1942, he was united in marriage to Carol Clark in Unionville, Missouri. They made their home on a farm near Centerville, Iowa. He has been a farmer and truck driver all his life, working for himself as well as Sidles Top Crop and later MFA Oil Company all in Centerville.He is preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Melvin Walker; sisters, Elsie Veach, Leona Bigelow and Orleta Clinkenbeard.Marvin is survived by: is wife, Carol Walker of Centerville, Iowa; son, Vernon Walker and his wife, Jana of Moulton, Iowa; a daughter, Margery Sandy and her husband, John of Centerville, Iowa; sisters, Dorothy Bennett of Winnebago, Illinois and Junaita Mollie of Harvey, Iowa; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 11am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery near Mystic, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 22, 2007 from 4 pm till 7 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home with the family present.Memorials can be made to either the First Responder of Exline, Iowa or to the Plano Christian Church Fellowship Hall and can be left at the funeral home.
