MARVIN ROY BISHOP Obituary's Obituary
Marvin Roy Bishop of Corydon, Iowa passed away on December 31, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. He was 71 years old. Marvin was born on April 17, 1943, to Raymond and Kathryn (Richardson) Bishop in Corydon, Iowa. He was the youngest of three boys. Corydon was always home to him and he would go on to raise his six children there. Growing up, Marvin enjoyed basketball, football, track, bowling, and participated in school plays. Later in life, he followed in his father's footsteps and took up golf. After high school, he was drafted into the Army and served two years in Germany during the Vietnam War, driving semis on the Autobahn between France and Germany. He returned to Corydon to work for the family business hauling feed and grain. He was then introduced to his wife through a mutual friend he met while serving in Germany. Marvin married Caroline Wolfe on July 13, 1967. After the birth of their second child, he began his career at the Hy-Vee Warehouse, retiring in 2006 after 32 years of service. He enjoyed family gatherings, many with a sports game on the TV in the background. He loved the Iowa Hawkeye basketball team. He spent many hours baking and cooking, a skill he learned and developed while growing up from his mother. After retirement, Marvin purchased a golf cart and played as much as he could, some days up to three rounds of golf (27 holes). Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Kathryn Bishop and two brothers, Jim Bishop and Larry Bishop.
