Marvel Perkins' Obituary
Marvel Perkins, age 97, of Centerville, Iowa died February 27, 2007 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab, Centerville, Iowa.
Marvel was born October 19, 1909 the daughter of Clarence and Josie (Adams) Withrow in Exline, Iowa. Her mother died at a young age and Marvel was raised by her grandparents, John and Ella Adams. Marvel received her education at Centerville High School. She married Verl Perkins on March 31, 1926 in Centerville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1995. Marvel was a member of the Saddle Club, Country Neighborhood in Exline, Iowa, Zoar Women's Society, St. Joseph's Hospital Aux., Zoar Methodist Church and the Centerville Methodist Church, and enjoyed scrap-booking for over forty years and attending family reunions.
Marvel is survived by three daughters; Norma Dene Thomas of Centerville, Iowa, Mary Lou Morrow of Centerville, Iowa, and Donna Lee (Wendell) Bailey of Lincoln, NE, one half brother; Bill Withrow of Centerville, six grandchildren; Darrell (Butch) Morrow and his wife Becky of Centerville, David Morrow of Washington, DC, Gail (David) Lockridge of Seymour, Iowa, Sue Davis of Kissimmee, FL, Scott Bailey of Lincoln, NE, and Tim (Cynthe) Bailey of Lincoln, NE, seven great grand children, Kaleb Morrow of Centerville, Iowa, Sawyer Morrow of Kansas City, Missouri, Erin (Wesley) Johnson of Ames, Iowa, Amy (Chris) Swigart of State Center, IA, Tyler, Kelsey and Lauryn Bailey of Lincoln, NE: three great-great grandchildren; Amelia Morrow, Lucy Johnson and Abby Johnson. She is preceded in death by her husband; Verl, parents; Clarence and Josie Withrow, grandparents; John and Ella Adams, a half brother; Clarence Withrow Jr., and a step-mother Gertie Withrow.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM, Friday, March 2, 2007 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow at the Zoar Cemetery, Exline, Iowa. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 1, 2007 with family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the Zoar Cemetery Association and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
