Marty Spurgeon, 56 of Bloomfield passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. Marty was born to Lowell & Lubelle(Whitacre) Spurgeon on October 17, 1954 in Bloomfield. He graduated from Davis County High School in 1973. He enjoyed working in his garage on small engine repairs, gardening service, stock and sprint car races and working on a farm. Marty is survived by five children; Melissa Prevo of Bloomfield, Devin Fisher(Jerad) of Brewster, MN, Chad Spurgeon of Tulsa, OK, Chelsey Spurgeon of Centerville, Shelbey Spurgeon of Ames, seven grandchildren, parents, brother Gary Spurgeon(Karen) of Bloomfield, sister, Jena Hawk(Dave) of Bloomfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Eron Prevo. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 at Thomas Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Interment will be in IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home - 108 West Poplar - Bloomfield, Iowa 52537.
