Martin Kent's Obituary
Martin Kent passed away quietly at his home in Chariton, Iowa He was born March 3, 1953 and grew to young adulthood with his parents Maurice and Margaret and a brother and sister on a farm near Promise City, Iowa. His early education was at Promise City with high school graduation at Seymour, Iowa. From a very early age he showed evidence of his love for learning. He attended Centerville Community College followed by enrollment at Iowa University in Iowa City. It was three he enlisted in the United States Army. After basic training he was affiliated with the Quarter=master Regiment where he successfully completed training as a water treatment specialist. Because of a deteriorating health condition he was given an honorable discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States on June 7, 1989. Back into civilian life he served in water treatment centers in Iowa communities the final location being Chariton, Iowa. Health conditions eventually made this work difficult. He sought employment with the Chariton Senior Center where he currently was involved. Martin is preceded in death by his father Maurice. He is survived by his son Toby; his mother Margaret; older brother Michael (Barbara); younger sister Maureta (Ron); nephews Jonathan (Bridgette) and their children Chad and Samantha; Patrick (Kari; Jason (Angie) and their children McKenna, Maggie, Kolt and Cerah; and one niece Nicole. Martin had a zest for life and love for his family members. He was a devoted member of the Community of Christ Church his entire lifetime. He thought of strangers as friends he had not yet met. He believed that God never sends the winter without the joy of spring to follow.
