Martha Lecine Stroud's Obituary
Martha Lecine Stroud, age 94 of Centerville, Iowa, formerly of Allerton, Iowa, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Lecine was born on June 13, 1923 in Putnam County, Missouri, the daughter of George Frank and Edith (Skiefs) Langloss. She was united in marriage to Louis Harold Stroud on June 7, 1941 in Powersville, Missouri. From this union, three children were born, Roger, Ronald, and Rhonda. They were married for sixty two years.
Lecine was a very devoted mother. She stayed home and raised her children, while they were young. Once they were old enough, she started employment at the Railroad Caf, a small restaurant in Allerton, Iowa. She was employed there for many years. She also worked at a nursing home in Allerton for a brief period of time. Later in her working career, she worked at the Corydon nursing home for several years. In Lecine's last job, she was employed as a bus aide with her daughter, for the Ottumwa Transit Bus Line.
In her earlier years, Lecine raised chickens. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, and most of all, spending time with her family. They were the most important thing in her life.
Lecine is survived by her children, Roger Stroud of Clio, Ronald Stroud of Clio, and Rhonda Cox of Centerville; five grandchildren, Angela Dillard of Allerton, Roy (Shanee) Benda of Corydon, Trinady McCoskey of Indianola, Levi Little of Allerton, and Josiah Cox of Indianola; five great grandchildren, Michelle (Zach) VanFleet of Allerton, Shanarah Bardwell of Newton, Kevon Brown of Indianola, Quinn Starla Heffron of Corydon, and Zoey Benjamin of Allerton; one great-great grandchild, Cadence Shields of Allerton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Harold Stroud; her parents, George Frank and Edith Langloss; and two grandchildren, Quinn Little and Ronald 'Ronnie' Stroud.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, July 24, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Mike Jellison officiating. Burial will follow at Shriver Cemetery, west of Seymour. A visitation will take place from 1-2PM, Monday July 24, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville.
