Martha 'Toots' McClurg's Obituary
Martha "Toots" McClurg, age 84, formerly of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 peacefully at her home in Brighton, Iowa.
Martha was born on May 23, 1932 in Centerville, Iowa, to Howard and Dorothy (McClaskey) Cochran. She graduated from Exline High School in 1949 and married Jack McClurg on May 29, 1949 in Centerville, Iowa.
Martha enjoyed visiting with her family and friends, tending to her flowers and yard. She enjoyed using her creativity to make crafts. She loved cooking and was an award-winning baker. Martha was the best wife, mother, grandma and farmhand a man could ever ask for. Jack could not have made it without her.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; two daughters, Connie (Larry) Moore, Teresa (Harold) Arbogast; two grandchildren, Stacey (Stephen) Hanley, and Tara Fields (with fianc, Brett Hahn); five great-grandchildren, Jacob Eldredge, Madelyn Eldredge, Reese Hanley, Jack Hanley, and Skilar Hahn; two sisters, Marget (Delbert) Kirby of Indianola, and Marcia Brunson of West Des Moines; a brother-in-law, Robert McClurg of Centerville, Iowa; and two sister-in-laws, Ivy McClurg of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Berthema Thomasson of Rockford, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas-age two in 1957; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow in the Concord Cemetery near Mystic, Iowa. A visitation will take place on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends from 10-11 AM. Memorials have been established to either the Concord Cemetery or to Hospice of Washington County and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
