Martha Josephine Lindley's Obituary
Martha Josephine Lindley, age 99, of Moulton, Iowa departed into Heaven on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter Myrtle (Tisue) Foster and Milo S. Foster on October 3, 1915 west of Moravia. March 30, 1934 she was united in marriage to Fred W. Lindley of Moulton, Iowa. They made their first home on a farm near Sedan, Iowa.She attended elementary school at Brush country school and graduated from Moravia High School 1932. She attended one year at Centerville Community College and then started teaching at Grant Elementary School, south of Moulton, Iowa. She returned to Centerville Community College and graduated in 1960. In 1966 she received her BS in Education from Northeast Missouri State Teacher College (Truman University). Josephine taught school one year at Grant Elementary south of Moulton and then got married and started a family. She returned to teaching in 1954 at Maple Grove Elementary east of Moravia and continued teaching until she retired in 1977 from Eldon, Iowa. During that time she also taught at Leslie Elementary north of Exline, at the Moulton Udell school district-5 grade math at Udell and jr. high math at Moulton. In 1968 she and Fred moved to Eldon where she taught 5th math until she retired.Josephine was an active member of the Methodist Church, Crosslines Center, local Farm Bureau, and 4-H clubs. She enjoyed traveling, camping, quilting, She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Fred W. Lindley on December 6, 1987 ; son, Dale Russell Lindley on May 16, 1970, great grandson, Russell Lindley on June 12, 2001; sisters May Main, Amy Wilson and Gail Stites.Josephine is survived by: her sons, Lazelle Lindley and wife Evelyn of Moulton, Iowa, Keith and wife Joy of Centerville, Iowa, Wayne and wife Barbara of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Marvin and wife Doris of Sanborn, Iowa: and daughters, Karena Henriksen and Nancy Stokwisz of Altoona, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren, two step grandchildren, Thirty great grandchildren and Thirty-three great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Marvin Lindley & Jerry Weller officiating with burial to follow in the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm.Memorials can be made to Moulton First Responders and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
