Martha "DeeDee" Davis' Obituary
Martha 'DeeDee' Davis, age 73, of Exline, Iowa, died Thursday, September 4, 2014 at her home in Exline. She was born the daughter of William C. and Elsie Katheryn (Sleeth) Brookhart on August 13, 1941 south of Moulton, Iowa. She received her education in Moulton and Indian Hills Community College in Centerville. On March 9, 1962, DeeDee, was united in marriage to Allen 'Bud' Davis in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked at Sears Manufacturing in Davenport, Iowa, and later after moving back to the Centerville area, worked at McGraw-Edison in Centerville. Family was always the most important part of DeeDee's life, she loved the memories that were created by spending time, whether it was singing music together, playing games or just kicking back and having a great meal with each other.She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Allen Davis; her soul mate, Leon VanderMark; brothers, Willard Brookhart, James Brookhart and Kenneth Brookhart; sisters, Lois Brookhart and Angeline 'Angie' Graham; grandson, Allen Lee.DeeDee is survived by: her son, Virgil Lee and his wife, Sondra of Exline, Iowa ; a daughter, Lisa Wilkins and her husband, Randy of Davenport, Iowa; brothers, Butch Brookhart and his wife, Brenda of Buffalo, Iowa and Ronnie Brookhart and his wife, Mae of Centerville, Iowa; a sister, Connie Brown and her husband, Jim of Centerville, Iowa; twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Kenneth Rusher officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery east of Exline, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm.Memorials can be made to the Salem Cemetery and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
