Mark S. Long's Obituary
Mark Steven Long, age 57, of Burlingame, Kansas, and a former Jerome, Iowa resident, died Monday, November 18, 2013 at his home in Burlingame. He was born the son of Merle E. and Marion F. (Stewart) Long on September 21, 1956 in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from the Seymour High School in Seymour, Iowa in 1975.Mark worked in the rock quarry business all his life. He first work for over 28 years for River Products Company in Iowa City, Iowa as the Sand Plant Manager, then moved to Paradise, Texas where he worked for TXI as Production Manager and Assistant Plant Manager, and later would work as Plant Manager for Builders Choice Aggregates in Topeka, Kansas. He retired due to his failing health in Burlingame, Kansas. In death, Mark joins his parents; and several aunts and unclesMark is survived by: his sister, Mai Terrell of Plano, Iowa; and an adopted son, Kenny Wheeler of Burlingame, Kansas; nieces, Audra Bunnell of Corydon, Iowa, Karissa Ball of Muscatine, Iowa; and a nephew, Derrick Ball of Corydon, Iowa; also many friends.Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Gault officiating. Burial to follow in the Jerome Cemetery in Jerome, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 11 am until the time of services at the funeral home on Thursday.Memorials can be made to Jerome Cemetery and left or mailed to the funeral home.
