Marjory King Goodell Obituary's Obituary
Marjory King Goodell, 101, of Life Care Center of Greeley, Colorado, passed from this life into the arms of her Lord and Savior on March 23, 2012. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Marjory was born December 28, 1910, near Dresden, Kansas, to Benton Albert King and Hannah (Nokes) King. She had one older sister, Joyce Marie King. Marjory moved to southern Iowa as a toddler and grew up in Wayne County. She was raised around Bethlehem, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Corydon High School in 1928. She attended William Penn College for teachers training in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and later graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, with a teaching degree. She taught mainly in country schools in Wayne County, Iowa. Marjory married Gerald Goodell on August 23, 1937, in Indianola, Iowa. They made their home in Wayne County, where they raised their two sons and one daughter. Marjory enjoyed family, books, and friends, and was active in church most of her life. While in assisted care and skilled care, she enjoyed playing bingo and Skipbo, cards, and many other activities. Marjory is survived by son Jerry (Deanna) Goodell of Bluff Dale, TX; son, James Goodell of Corydon, Iowa; daughter, Diane (Rex) Rickert of Greeley, Colorado; grandsons, Travis Rickert, Trevor (Maggie) Rickert, Trorie (Alli) Rickert; granddaughters, Kimberly (Val) Gardner and Dawn (Andrew) Hendricks; and 11 great-grandchildren. Marjory was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Joyce King; a daughter-in-law, Sandra (Pickens) Goodell; and an infant great-grandson, Zachary Conner Rickert. Graveside services for Marjory will be at the New York Cemetery in Wayne County, Iowa, on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 1:30 PM.
