Marjorie Maxine Smith's Obituary
Marjorie Maxine Smith, 91, passed away on March 3, 2016, at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk, IA. Marjorie was born July 27, 1924, in Appanose County, IA, to Dwight and Lennie (Banks) Hughes. She attended rural schools and graduated from Centerville High School. After graduation, Marjorie married Glen Smith and settled on a farm near Unionville, IA. Marjorie worked outside of the home for many years and retired from the Corydon Veterinary Clinic. Marjorie is survived by two daughters: Sharon (Terry) Hiltabidle of Traer, IA, and Linda Smith Thomas of West Des Moines, IA, as well as one son, Kenneth (Lori) Smith of Mason City, IA. Grandchildren: Scott Hiltabidle, and Amy (Kirk) Crawford, Carrie (Dave) Kompelien, and Lauren Smith. Great grandchildren: Kody, Kolten and Colin. Brother: Glen Hughes of Summersville, SC. She was preceeded in death by her parents, and brothers, Harold, Raymond and Wayne Hughes. Marjorie enjoyed attending Circle at the Methodist Church until physical challenges limited her activities. She was a past lifetime member and former President of the American Legion Auxillary, and enjoyed many friendships over the years. Marjorie took great pride in her gardening and cooking, and made absolutely the best homemade noodles and pies. She was especially proud for all the pie baking compliments from her Saturday night bingo Legion friends. Celebration of Life will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Thomas-Randolph Funeral Home in Corydon with Pastor Leroy Perkins officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Corydon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Corydon United Methodist Church and condolences may be shared at www.thomasrandolphfh.com.
