Marjorie Lolita Scott's Obituary
Marjorie L. Scott, born 07/24/1922, passed away at the Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana on 02/08/2022.
Marjorie was one of eleven children born to Bennie and Edna (Walker) Fowler of Centerville, Iowa. Bennie and Edna never had a drivers license or vehicle in their entire life, but their home was filled with laughter and love, with 5 beautiful girls and 6 handsome, ornery boys that deeply loved their parents.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving, caring spiritual husband, George (Scotty) Scott; brothers and sisters, Harold, Maxine, Irene, Helen, Max, Ben jr., Wayne, Donnie, Bernice, and her beautiful great-granddaughter, 4 years of age, Allison Marie Sweeden.
Marjorie is survived by her youngest brother, Ronald Fowler of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Carol (Sam) Sweeden; son, George (Connie) Scott of Rittman, Ohio; grandchildren, Terri (Charlie) Sriver, Juli (Clint) Emberton, Tom (Laura) Sweeden, Tim (Regina) Sweeden, Drew (Danielle) Scott, Carrie, and Stephanie; plus numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren; as well as many nephews and nieces, especially Richard Shepard, son of Maxine, who helped take care of Marjories every wish during her final few months on earth.
Marjorie and Scotty were faithful, dedicated Christians all of their lives. They attended various locations of the CHURCH OF CHRIST in the Centerville and Ottumwa, Iowa area. Marjorie and Scotty were continually reminding people that they would meet, regarding our Savior, Jesus Christ. Marjorie studied her bible every day, until the very night she went to the hospital. Her son-in-law found this poem in some of Marjories final papers which really describes Marjories life.

"When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustnt tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love. You can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown. But now its time I traveled on alone. So, grieve a while for me if you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. Its only for a while that we must part. So, bless the memories within your heart. I wont be far away. For life goes on. So, if you need me, call and I will come. Though you cant see or touch me, Ill be near and if you listen with your heart, youll hear. All of my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, Ill greet you with a smile and say WELCOME HOME!
Graveside services will be held at 11:30AM, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati with Sam Sweeden officiating. Visitation will take place Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 10-11AM.
