Marjorie Cortesio Perkins' Obituary
Marjorie Lucille Perkins, age 53, of rural Sedalia, Missouri died Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia. She was born on November 7, 1957, in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Louis William and Mary Juanita (Mattox) Cortesio. She was raised north of Centerville, Iowa, and graduated from Moravia High School in Moravia, Iowa. Marjorie attended college at Indian Hills, where she received her LPN and RN licenses. She was married to Mark Hefner and this union was blessed with four children: Norman, Megan, Cassie, and Luke. While living in Ottumwa, Iowa, she worked as a nurse in the medical field. On October 24, 2004, Marjorie was united in marriage to Donald Perkins, who survives at home. In 2004, she moved to her home south of Sedalia. Marjorie received her Bachelor's Degree from Central Methodist University and for the past three years, worked for American Home Care of Lake Ozark. She adored spending time with her seven grandchildren. Besides her husband, Marjorie is survived by: two daughters, Megan Houser and her husband Brandon of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Cassie Parrish and her husband Chester of Mystic, Iowa; two sons, Norman Hefner and his wife Mindy of Corydon, Iowa, and Luke Hefner of West Des Moines, Iowa; three sisters, Kathy Papageorgeiou and her husband Dimitri of Rock Island, Illinois, Jenny Fritz and her husband Lee of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Teresa Cortesio of Huntsville, Missouri; three brothers, Bill Cortesio and his wife Carol of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Rick Cortesio and his wife Pauline of Ankeny, Iowa, and Mike Cortesio and his wife Cynthia of Kingston, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Taigen Hefner, Seth Houser, Trent Hefner, Merick Parrish, Shelby Parrish, Abby Houser, and Declan Parrish; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carla Cortesio. A prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Rea Funeral Chapel in Sedalia, with Father Keith Branson officiating. A visitation will follow. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, November 9, 2011 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family present from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Following the service, cremation will take place and a committal service will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to American Home Care in care of the Fox Funeral Home, PO Box 37, Cole Camp, Missouri, 65325.
