Marjorie Barber's Obituary
Marjorie Barber, 81, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away August 26, 2014 at Golden Age Care Center. Marjorie Francis was born to Clarence and Dorothy (Shaw) Cornett on February 25, 1933 in Centerville, Iowa. She was raised with her six siblings, receiving her education from Centerville Schools. She married Max Barber in 1951 and was later divorced. She worked as a homemaker in her own home, raising three children; Terry, Mike and Dayna. Marjorie enjoyed music and played many instruments including the organ, accordion, and harmonica. She loved being with family, gathering often with them. Marjorie memorized everyone's number and liked spending time on the phone, catching up with her friends and family. She was a member of the Centerville Assembly of God. Marjorie is survived by two sons; Terry Barber (Monica) and Mike Barber (Emily) both of Centerville, six grandchildren; Angie Frank (JD), Max Barber, Jill Strickler (Kenny), Jeremy Barber (Amber), Ryan Van Dorn and Zach Van Dorn, and six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dayna Van Dorn, her parents, four brothers; Clarence "Sonny", Bobby, Jerry and Rick Cornett and two sisters; Betty Dawson and Judy Cornett. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Dittmer officiating. Interment will be at Haines Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family.
