Marilyn Snider's Obituary
Marilyn Robinette (Beaty) Snider, the daughter of Berle and Catholine (Ball) Beaty, was born on a farm west of Iconium, Iowa on August 26, 1929. She passed away on the morning of April 27, 2015, after a years battle against cancer. She had a wonderfully long life of 85 years. Marilyn attended several country schools and graduated from the Seymour High School in 1947. In 1945 she was baptized at the Christian Church in Moravia, and was a member of the Seymour Christian Church. On July 24th, 1948, she was united in marriage to Billie Samuel Snider, and they enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. They shared their life together on farms west and south of Seymour, and built a new home in town in 1980. To this union four children were born; Ronald Wayne, David Allen, Martha Renee, and Bonita Kay. Marilyn was employed several years during tax season to help an accountant in Corydon. In 1973 she began her career as City Clerk in Seymour, retiring after 20 years. She was elected to the City Council for 8 years following retirement and actively served on various other committees for the betterment of her community. In 2008, her and Bill enjoyed the honor of being chosen as the Seymour Old Settlers parade marshals. Marilyn was a member of the Seymour Legion Auxiliary, Wayne County Hospital Auxiliary, and served as a board member of the Wayne County Homemaker Aide Agency. She was a past member of Seymour Eastern Star. She delighted in spending time with her friends at Thursday morning breakfast, and Busy Stitcher's Club. She enjoyed playing scrabble and other card games and was a member of three bridge clubs. Marilyn loved being with her family and was known for her wonderful pie baking skills and the many baby quilts that she cross stitched and gave away. Preceding her in death were her husband Bill (2011), daughter Martha (1959), her parents, and siblings Rosalie, Max, Rex, Bonnie, and Dean and brothers-in-law William C. Bivin, Clifford Hull, Clarence Adams, Delbert (Max) Maxfield, Milo Snider and Harold Snider. Those left with many cherished memories are her children Ronnie and Sharon Snider of Cincinnati, David and Dotty Snider of Seymour, and Bonita and Dr. Joel Wells of Corydon; her grandchildren Kathie and Joe Sherrard, Lori Snider, Ryan Snider and Emily, Kevin Snider, Andrea and Mike Riemenschneider, Gabe and Caitlin Wells, and Jocelyn and Matt Roe; step-grandchildren Brad and Tammy Shipley and Michelle and Kevin Hersom; great-grandchildren Trevor and Mallory Sherrard, Savanna, Zachery, and Jennalyn Snider, Kayla Riemenschneider, Gracie and Ty Riemenschneider, and Harrison and Sawyer Roe; and step-great grandchildren Paige and Madison Hersom. Also sisters Margaret Hull of Ottumwa, Adda Maxfield of Corydon, and sisters-in-law Betty Beaty, Frances Beaty Ashby, Helen Snider, Donna Snider; and brothers-in-law Miles and Alberta Snider and Bennie and Marilyn Snider and extended family members and friends. Marilyn was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a very loving, kind-hearted woman with a strong faith and a smile that warmed the hearts of many.
