Marilyn Oswalt's Obituary
Marilyn Oswalt, age 74, of Centerville, Iowa, died Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Ben and Iza (Fenton) Tracy on November 4, 1940 near Brushy, Iowa. She graduated from the Centerville Community High School and later from Iowa School of Beauty in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Larry McDanel on July 3rd, 1959. they owned and operated the Saddle Rock Caf on the levee in Centerville Iowa. They would later divorce. She worked in local restaurants while attending beauty school. Upon graduating she opened up her own beauty shop called Precise-n-Nice in Centerville. On December 31, 1978, Marilyn was united in marriage to Charles Oswalt in Heavenly Hideaway near Plano, Iowa. She would go on to work at Rubbermaid for many years. She attended Dale Church for a time and then would later become a member of the Solid Rock Church of God both in Centerville. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Charles Oswalt; her bother in-law Mick Oswalt; her brother and his wife, Lloyd and Mirinda (Bickford) Tracy; Bert and his wife, Donna (Goben) Tracy; sister, Shirley Wyldes and a daughter-in-law, Laura McDanel. Marilyn is survived by: her sons, Greg (Kathy) McDanel of Centerville, Iowa and Mark (Shelley) McDanel of New London, Missouri; a very close friend, (the daughter she never had) Sandy Whicker of Centerville, Iowa; sister, Lavon Houston of Davenport, Iowa; brother-in-law, Jim Wyldes of Ottumwa, Iowa; sister-in-law, Cathy Tracy; along with Four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Tony Angran officiating. Private burial will be at the Brushy Cemetery north of Plano, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm.
