Marilyn Gibbs Obituary's Obituary
Marilyn Elaine Nickell Gibbs enjoyed life's adventures. They began 63 years ago on April 29, 1946 in Corydon. They ended February 23, 2010 in Gainesville, Florida. Marilyn was so many things to so many people- wife, mother, grandma, grandma g.g., sister, aunt, mentor and friend. Her husband of 45 years was her best friend and traveling companion. She was his Winnebago co-pilot, delivering campers all over the United States and into Canada. December 12, 2009, they celebrated their 45th Anniversary with a Slumber Party at their new home. Having the family surrounding her was one of her greatest joys. Other fond memories include: fishing, swimming in the pond, camping, dancing, riding the Mormon Trail, her horse adventure with Waverly Engle, Millerton Mother's Club adventures, touching Oprah, teaching kids King's Corners, playing Hands and Feet, spooky stories, night walks, singing Bye-O-Bye to all the babies she held, hunting for mushrooms, fishing (but never having much luck) and sitting around a campfire. Left to carry on are: husband Floyd of the home, daughter, Lisa Fry of Corydon, son, Larry (Barbara) Gibbs of Osceola, son, Jason (Stacy) Gibbs of Murray, grandchildren: Bethany and Daniel Gates of Corydon, Jacob (Brittany) Gibbs of Great Falls, MT, Amy, Kimber and Ashley Gibbs of Osceola, Sam, Ben, Matt Rockhold and Katy Gibbs of Murray, Megan (Dean) Alley of Allerton and Alaina Fry of Humeston, great-grandchildren; Brooklyn Gibbs and Peyton Alley, sisters: Virginia Gaylord of Seymour and Sharon (Jim) Anderson of Corydon, brother: Raymond (LaVonne) Nickell of Humeston, brothers in-law: Bill Gibbs of Corydon, Ellis (Joy) Gibbs of Des Moines, Loy Gibbs of Cedar Rapids, Dean (Helen) Gibbs of Pekin, IL and sister in-law Kathleen (Russell) Dotts of New Virginia. Numerous nieces and nephews and friends survive her as well. Supporting grandchildren and their activities and guiding her children in life were her greatest passions. She also enjoyed being an active member of the Millerton Methodist Church. Marilyn spent years as a Real Estate agent, with current employment being with Kim Hick's Realty. She was also remembered as selling Avon, Rainbow vacuums, manager of the Sharon Motel, waitressing at Nick's Caf, The Bluegrass Inn and Lakeview Lounge. She and Floyd were proud owners of the Nodyroc Motel before retiring. Marilyn will always be remembered for her love of life and being able to laugh when things weren't always perfect. Thank you to everyone that shared with her and will continue to with her family.
