Marilyn Lee Dwyer's Obituary
Marilyn Dwyer, age 81, of Moravia, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at her daughter's home in Kirksville, Missouri. She was born the daughter of Chester and Dora (Murray) Haines on December 16, 1933 in Prescott, Iowa. She graduated from the Richland Township High School near Orient, Iowa.On June 17, 1952, Marilyn was united in marriage to Earl 'Richard' Dwyer in Fontanelle, Iowa. She worked at a local Jewelry Store, and also at the Union County Assessor Office and Auditors Office. Later, she also worked in Floyd County Assessor Office. After moving to the Rathbun Lake area, she would read meters for Chariton Valley Electric alongside her husband and retired in 2014. She loved living by the Lake, whether it was boating, jet skiing or just sitting on the shore. She also enjoyed many other activities, including attending University of Iowa Basketball and Football games. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, United Methodist Women and the Clover Leaf Club in Moravia, Iowa. Playing Bridge or 31 was always great entertainment, along with a game of Golf at the Appanoose Country Club. She was a member of the Iconium United Methodist Church as well.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Richard Dwyer on April 12, 2010; and a grandson, Richard E. Shimer.Marilyn is survived by: her daughters, Karla Dwyer of Kirksville, Missouri and Karyn Shimer and her husband, Chuck of Council Bluffs, Iowa; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Shimer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a brother, Danny (Elaine) Haines of Creston, Iowa; along with several nieces and nephews and many special friends.Memorial Service will be held at 7 pm, Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Jim Wakelin and Rev. Jerry Morrison officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 pm until the time of services at 7 pm. The family will be present from 5 pm until 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to either Iconium United Methodist Church, Hospice of Northeast Missouri or donate blood in her memory at a local blood bank.
