Marilyn B. Condra's Obituary
Marilyn Burleta Condra, age 84, of Unionville, Missouri, died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at her home north of Unionville. She was born the daughter of Burr and Leta Mary (Morlan) Teater on June 29, 1930 near Plano, Iowa. She graduated from Seymour Community High School in 1948 and later from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Science and Elementary Education in 1963. As a teenager, she worked as a clerk in a dime store, F.W. Woolworths on the Centerville, Iowa square. She worked the county fair gate taking tickets. On August 25, 1950, Marilyn married her highschool sweetheart, Marvin Condra in Centerville, Iowa. In 1957, the family moved to Des Moines, Iowa to live on a dairy farm. Then in 1959, the family moved to Numa, Iowa, then on to Layton, Utah in 1963. The final move was to Unionville, Missouri in 1988. With her helping out by driving a pickup truck for a majority of the trips. A total of 15 trips were made to move their belongings and 28 head of Arabian horses. Marilyn also taught school for 7 1/2 years in Iowa and Missouri, and then 24 years in Layton, Utah. She retired on an early incentive program in 1987. The areas of work for her were teaching 2 years of 8th and 9th grade in Mingo, Iowa; teaching 5 1/2 years in rural Appanoose and Putnam County Schools; McKay in Missouri, North Wilson, South Wilson and North Bend as well as Cincinnati School in Iowa. After retiring, she worked at the rec Center in Centerville, Iowa and helped her husband out on the farm by driving tractors. Among her accomplishments, was named 'Who's Who Among Teachers' in 1995 and was nominated by her students. She was known for her impeccable embroidery, crocheting, and knitting. She was preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers, Harl Teater and Ardys Teater; two sisters, Charlotte Overturf and Joanne Everman; and a son, Daniel J Condra on February 2, 2011. Marilyn is survived by: her loving husband, Marvin Condra of Unionville, Missouri; a daughter, Jaynee Morehead and her husband, Randy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Aimee 'Pepper' Condra, Dominic 'Nick' Condra and his wife, Amanda, Caessie Henderson and her husband, Charles, Jeffrey Benink and his wife, Amber and Jennifer Benink; Eleven great grandchildren, Jhenon Robinson, Pahri Boyce, Karlee Condra, Brooklyn Condra, Carson Benink, Carter Benink, Kennedy Benink, Abigayle Henderson, Austin Henderson, Makayla Brennecke and Dylan Brennecke; as well as a brother, Alyn Teater and family of Centerville, Iowa. Funeral service will be held at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa. A private burial will be held at the Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm.
